And well, the TATA NANO is a revolution in the making. It has already turned heads around the world. People say it will revolutionise the way india travels, i dare say it will bring in a lot more changes than just bringing more cars onto the roads. It will propel the Tatas into the limelight of world automative market thats currently dancing to the tunes of developing markets and demand for efficient and inexpensive cars.

But there has been some irrelevant criticism about the car compounding the traffic headache. Its an irony. Initially people will be attracted by the car(as the early responses predict) and there will be problems due to lack of proper infrastructure to accomodate these burgeoning increase in traffic. But in the span of 3-4 years govt. will be ‘forced’ to better the roads and traffic infrastructures. This is similar to what happened in germany post the war years when a recovering economy, encouraged the ppl to buy cheap cars. though it suffocated the roads…it ushred in positive change and development.

More over, with Bajaj jumping into the band wagon and Mahindra-Renault expected to launch a car for less than Rs.1,50,000…it surely looks like a war of prices is on cards. May be we are in for a Mobile-mania kind of revolution. Also with the indian industry coming up with such new and -most importantly- low cost technologies, it may well usher us as a research and development hub…if not immediately but in the long run.

Nothing NANO abt the spin-offs….isnt it !!
